Bulwark Seal Kits: Three Layers of Defence
The Bulwark kit examples in this article are depicted in a FAM Bearing Assembly. This size assembly is used in the 10/8F-AH, 12/10F-AH, 12/12F-AH, 12/10FM-G and 14/12F-AH slurry pumps and 12/10FM-G Gravel Pump.
First line of defence
Water/slurry spraying from the gland is flung away from isolator.
Second line of defence
The housing remains protected even when people high pressure spray the unit.
The water jet is directed away from the isolator, draining out the bottom of the splash guard.
Third line of defence
The Bulwark Isolator itself. This recessed isolator is IP69X rated, meaning even without the other barriers the seal can cope with high pressure spray whilst keeping out dust.
It is the first isolator on the market with IP67 submergence capability when the pump is running.
Any ingress reaching the third zone drains out.
With three lines active lines of defence, it’s easy to see the Bulwark Seal kits is the only design on the market designed specifically for mineral processing applications.
The 20ppm contamination of lubrication that rapidly destroys bearings no longer occurs. With these kits, your bearing housings will be reliable, with the possibility of reaching the L10 bearing life now a reality.
The Bulwark seal kits are designed to upgrade common brands of slurry pumps that are still fitted with purged piston rings and/or lip seals.
The standard materials are Duplex SS/316SS Bearing Isolator (not bronze/brass as others); Aflas O Rings; 304SS Bearing Spacer; Plated Steel End Cover; and UHMWHDPE Splash Guard. Other materials can be made to order.
Kits are stocked to suit all AH, M, L, G, D, and HH models. Including the ‘XL’ variants.
Bulwark isolators kits enable massive rationalisation compared to OEM labyrinths. Simply pop out the bearing spacer in the Standard F kit, insert the nominated NDE spacer and it now suits another pump size. The single F kit with the appropriate spacer can be used to upgrade 43 different pump sizes.
Bulwark kits are stocked to suit various slurry pump brands including Warman, GIW, Mill Max, Goulds and Flowserve.
